first season for the Théâtre du Capitole under the label “Opéra National”
The Théâtre du Capitole is now called the Opéra National Capitole Toulouse. It is under this prestigious label that its programming for the 2022-2023 season was announced on Tuesday April 5.
The artistic director of the Opéra de Toulouse presented this Tuesday, April 5 his programming for 2022-2023. A season punctuated by the great masterpieces of classical music, but also the return of productions canceled during the health crisis. Above all, this is the first season for the establishment under the prestigious label “National Opera in the region”.
On December 2, the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot, visiting Toulouse, announced the labeling of the Théâtre du Capitole as a “National Opera in the region”. It is therefore under this new label and with a new name that the Opéra National Capitole Toulouse is launching its new season. “It is first of all a recognition of this house, of the level of this house and the level at which it has worked for a very long time”rejoices Christophe Ghristi, the artistic director of the place. “The programming does not change the essential elements with this labeling since the Théâtre du Capitole already ticked all the boxes, which is also why this labeling was obvious. It does not bring us any major constraints, it simply gives us priorities that we have always taken into account, in particular the deployment in the region which is a chosen one that I am very attached to. It gives meaning, perspective, but it doesn’t change the essential elements of programming.
For the tours, especially the ballet, I think the fact that it’s the ballet of the Opéra National du Capitole, that it’s even better in terms of attractiveness, so it’s really a plus
Christophe Ghristi, artistic director of the Opéra National de Toulouse
The Opéra de Toulouse is the 6th establishment to obtain label this prestigious in France which had not been awarded for 15 years. The awarded structures constituting a national reference network for “The enhancement and renewal of repertoires, forms and aesthetics.
