Easter with the ORF radio stations Ö1, Ö3 and FM4: Salzburg Easter Festival, “Walek wandert”, “Sounds of …” and much more
Vienna (OTS) – From literature to music to listener requests – the Easter program of Ö1, Ö3 and FM4 offers all of this.
From the Salzburg Easter Festival Ö1 on Saturday, April 9th from 7.30 p.m. Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin” with a time delay. Conducted by Christian Thielemann, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden will perform, with singing by Hans-Peter König (Heinrich der Vogler), Eric Cutler (Lohengrin), Jacquelyn Wagner (Elsa von Brabant), Martin Gantner (Friedrich von Telramund), Elena Pankratova ( Ortrud), Markus Brück (Heerrufer), the Saxon State Opera Choir Dresden, the Bach Choir Salzburg and the Choir of the Salzburg State Theater. The classical music request concert “Great titles – strong pieces” is on Palm Sunday (April 10) and Easter Sunday (April 17) on Ö1’s program from 1.10 p.m.
Under the title “Crux – About the indecency of the cross”, the Catholic theologian Jan-Heiner Tück reflects on Holy Week – in the “Thoughts for the Day” from Monday, April 11th to Saturday, April 16th at 6:56 a.m in the Ö1. The opening concert of this year’s Easter festival Imago Dei can be heard in “On stage” on April 11 from 7.30 p.m.
“The Easter Witch” by Selma Lagerlöf will be on the “Radio Stories” program on Maundy Thursday, April 14, from 11:05 a.m. In “Concern: Easter” (6.50 p.m.), the sociologist of religion and Catholic theologian Regina Polak speaks about resurrection and rising at the beginning of the three Easter days.
On Holy Saturday, April 16, the story of the premiere of Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” at the Vienna Court Opera will be the focus of the “Hörbilder” (9.05 a.m.). The “Ö1 radio play” is synchronized with the text of the “St. Matthew Passion” from 2 p.m. Lilith Häßle, Michael Maertens, Markus Meyer, Petra Morzé, Peter Simonischek and Claudius von Stolzmann are involved in the ORF production (2020) based on Martin Luther, Picander and Paul Gerhardt. Lukas Schiske is responsible for the music and Leonhard for editing and direction Koppelmann. From 7.30 p.m. the premiere recording of 14.4. from Richard Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” from the Vienna State Opera: Philippe Jordan conducts the orchestra of the Vienna State Opera, among others Andreas Schager (Tristan), Martina Serafin (Isolde), René Pape (König Marke), Iain Paterson (Kurwenal ), Ekaterina Gubanova (Brangäne) and the choir of the Vienna State Opera.
On Easter Sunday, April 17, a recording of this year’s Salzburg Easter Festival can be heard in the “Matinee” (11.03 a.m.). The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden under conductor Christian Thielemann – soloist: Antoine Tamestit, viola – plays Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra and Richard Strauss’ “An Alpine Symphony”. From 6:15 p.m., “Moment am Sonntag” will address the question of where the desire to clean up comes from, especially in spring and before Easter, and the “Milestones” (8:55 p.m.) will present Mahalia Jackson’s “In Concert Easter Sunday, 1967”.
On Easter Monday, April 18th, the choreographer and director of the Vienna State Ballet Martin Schläpfer will be preparing a cheese and parsley omelet with white bread toast on “Ö1 Küchenradio” (1.10 p.m.) while listening to music by Antonio Vivaldi, Carmen McRae and Niccolo Paganini and James Taylor. In “Literature on Holidays” (2:05 p.m.) actor Florian Teichmeister reads texts by Peter Handke about music and in “Selten wie ein Urlaub” (4 p.m.) Elisabeth Hilscher, musicologist at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, is a guest. Under the title “The Plague Column – Monument to an Epidemic”, “Memo – Ideas, Myths, Festivals” (7:05 p.m.) offers a foray into a piece of Baroque-Catholic commemorative culture. From 7.30 p.m., the oratorio “Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo”, written around 1700 by Antonio Caldara, who later became Vice Court Kapellmeister in Vienna, can be heard. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis will play under the direction of René Jacobs, with Gerd Türk (Cristo), Maria Cristina Kiehr (Maddalena), Rosa Dominguez (Marta), Andreas Scholl (Amor Celeste), Bernarda Fink (Amor Terreno) and Ulrich Messthaler (Fariseo).
Easter on the hit radio Ö3
During Holy Week, Ö3 broadcasts “Radio Holiday” from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (April 11 to 15), moderated by Andi Knoll. During the Easter holidays, Tom Walek will lace up his hiking boots again, pack the Ö3 microphone in his backpack and be out and about in the Austrian mountains with celebrities. The start on Palm Sunday is made by Irene Fuhrmann, the manager of the Austrian women’s national soccer team, who is hiking through the snow-covered Vienna Woods with Tom Walek. “Walek wanders” – to be heard on Palm Sunday (April 10) and Easter Sunday (April 17) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There is also a music special again: Easter Monday (April 18) becomes the Ö3 music holiday (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). The motto:
“The favorite 80s of the post-80s”, moderated by Benny Hörtnagl and Sheyda Kharzi.
Ö3 distress number as a psychological support around the holidays show a variety of stresses due to the various psychological crisis situations of the past years, especially the corona pandemic with all its consequences and currently the dramatic developments surrounding the war in Ukraine. The existing offer of the Ö3-Kummernummer offers address and advice. Concerns can be dispelled and confidence encouraged in a personal conversation. The “Ö3-Kummernummer” can be reached on 116 123 (free of charge) daily from 4 p.m. to midnight.
Team Austria
The aid platform of Ö3 and the Red Cross tackles flexibly in times of crisis when help is needed. In addition to the Tafel and neighborhood help, Team Austria now also offers everyday support for Ukrainians. Wanted for this: Volunteers with Ukrainian or Russian skills who, as buddy, help refugees to find their way in their new everyday life. Religion on hit radio Ö3
On Good Friday, April 15, Hitradio Ö3 broadcasts the Gospel of John shortly before 3 p.m. Easter contributions can be heard on Easter Sunday, April 17th, and on Easter Monday, April 18th.
The FM4 Easter program
“FM4 Unter Palmkätzchen” (April 11-15, 1 p.m.) – the Easter classic with Roli Gratzer and Antonia Stabinger to call and listen to, with top themes, easygoing music and the best entertainment, is ideal for listening to while Easter cleaning or coloring eggs, but also as an excuse if you would rather listen or call than clean. As usual, the “FM4 Homebase Parade” will also take place around Easter (April 11-15 and April 18, 7:00 p.m.). For two hours, listeners have the perfect opportunity to wish for their favorite tracks. Following this, “Sounds of …” (April 11, 13, 14 and 18, 9 p.m.) provides anticipation for the festival summer and each time extends to a large festival. There is also reason to be happy at the “FM4 Easter Festival”, which is finally back after a two-year festival radio break: Here the listeners can, among other things, buy tickets for the coveted FM4 Frequency Festival in St. Pölten, the scene open air in Lustenau or win the Sziget Festival in Budapest. The “FM4 Easter Festival” takes place daily on the “FM4 Morning Show” (April 11-15 and April 18, 6 a.m.), on “You’re At Home Baby” (April 11-15 and April 18, 10 a.m.) and in “FM4 Connected” (April 11-15 and April 18, 3:00 p.m.). On Easter Monday, April 18, Elisabeth Scharang will speak with war researcher Daniela Ingruber in an “FM4 double room” (1 p.m.).
