Alexander Turgenev (April 7, 1784 – December 15, 1845) was a Russian historian and politician. Alexander Ivanovich Turgenev was born (March 27) on April 7, 1784 in the city of Simbirsk (now Ulyanovsk) and comes from an old Russian noble family. A state activist, historian, he was one of the enlightened people of his time and had a great influence on the formation of the ideology of his time. “In his youth, he was brought up and educated at a Moscow university boarding school, then he was studied by the historical and political sciences, which he diligently went to the Gottingen study and after graduating, in company with Kaisarov, traveled through the historical Slavic lands.
Service in the Ministry of Justice brought him together with numerous prominent representatives of private figures, with whom he participated in an international conference, the case accompanied Emperor Alexander I on a trip.
Since 1810, Alexander Turgenev has been the director of the department of the Main Directorate of Religious Affairs of Foreign Confessions, while remaining secretary of state in the State Council and a senior member of the Council of the commission for compiling the meeting. Since 1817, he headed the Department of Spiritual Affairs in the Ministry of Spiritual Affairs and Public Education.
Since 1824, after the holiday and the meeting of this ministry, he remains only a member of the commission engaged in searching and leaving in his spare time.
Throughout his life, he carried mutual friendship with such personalities as Zhukovsky, Karamzin, Kaisarov and Prince Golitsyn and actively participated in the fate of Pushkin, Kozlov, Baratynsky, Prince Vyazemsky.
