The president thanked the volunteers for their help in critical moments
“It is an immense encouragement to see how many people are willing to help at critical moments, to sacrifice leisure, comfort, energy and strength because someone else needs it.” said Čaputová. The president also thanked the volunteers for setting an example for society. The public, in turn, called for the example of volunteers.
“The ability to do good is part of a person’s basic equipment, we all have that ability. The extent to which we develop it is often determined by our personal experience, but also by the strength of the inspiring example.” said Čaputová. She added that respect and thanks belong not only to the nominees, but to all the people who help and often remain anonymous.
The President received volunteers in connection with the presentation of the Volunteer of the Year 2021 award. The award was nominated by 315 volunteers and projects in Slovakia, and the award ceremony will take place on Tuesday at 6 pm.
