Except at the start of the match (0-6, 2nd), the Caen Basket Calvados spent his evening chasing after the score at La Rochelle, this Tuesday, April 5, 2022. We played the 7th day of phase 2 (out of 10). However, despite a small delay in the second quarter (29-21, 18th), the Caennais were on time at halftime (30-28).
An offensive absence after the break
It was after the break that the offensive air gap arrived, sending Caen’s ambitions waltzing in this part, against one of the teams in form of the upper hen of National 1 (With this success, La Rochelle has 10 wins in their last 11 games). The Caennais then only scored 5 points in 8 minutes. During this time, Stade Rochelais was able to widen the gap (50-33, 28th). A gap that the Caennais nevertheless managed to reduce in two minutes to keep a little hope (51-41, 30th).
But in the last quarter, and despite 3-point baskets signed Séraphin Saumont (48-40, 36th), La Rochelle remained in front without ever releasing the pressure to win logically 72-58. Caen ends the evening with a poor record in shots at 18/55 (32% success), against 25/59 for his opponent (42%).
Rebound Friday at the sports hall?
After two victories in a row, the CBC recorded its fifth defeat in seven games in this second phase. It remains to play Poitiers this Friday April 8 at the Palais des Sports in Caen (8 p.m.), before a trip to Angers and the reception of Lorient. Then will come the playoffs and the last chance for the Caennais to go up to Pro B.
