Warm meals for restaurants in Warsaw. An interview with Strawa Warsaw
Until the start of the first program for many customers from Ukraine who get off trains and buses after a journey of several hours. We talked with the representatives of the Strawa Warszawa initiatives about how their cooperation was established, how many kilograms of vegetables are converted into meals for the needy and what tastes the earliest.

How and from whose initiative Strawa Warszawa?
Marta Leśniewska: Strawa Warszawa in the second week of the war. Initially, we started to act as WHO TO WHOM and we cooked and delivered meals near the eastern railway station, where people started to run away with the escaped. Due to the fact that my kitchen also works during the day, together with Magda, we started looking for a place that would allow us to create more space. This is how we got to Bogumił Jankiewicz from Real Food, the company in which the funds belong Bobby Burger and Wegeguru.
Magda Gapińska: I have Bogumiła before and I realized that she has a central kitchen that knows how to perform tasks. We managed to do it in one phone call, and for a healthy day, we completed the things needed for the preparation and basic products, and we were also supported by the Heart of the City Foundation. On Sunday we managed to do everything and we started cooking on Monday.
Who else shared in your core line-up and how did you start working together?
Marta: It started when I started looking for people willing to help in our kitchen. This is how Jan Macierewicz and Magda joined us, then we recruited Bogumiła, and we are the core of the team that coordinates the way we operate in terms of organization. We also all try to check the knowledge and ranges. Janek has enlisted a lot of people from the film industry to volunteer, he also helps us a lot, so the initiative is constantly gaining momentum.

How much time do you spend on Strawberry activities and how is it managed to be included as part of the duties?
Marta: We devote practically all our free time to it. Each of us must lead our lives and we are supposed to have, but there is no place we can either do here to prepare.
Magda: We work in freelance industries or manage our own companies, so we can combine work and help. The basis of our activity, however, are people who can be in the kitchen from the very morning and cook meals. We are doing organizational matters.

You are talking about the help of foundations, friends and farmers who provide you with products. Is there a city or a government in the method of the method as well?
Magda: No, but we didn’t ask for that help. We launched ourselves Nursing data on pomocam.plwhich will in any way protect us – we do not look at the state of the city, but act with our resources. The modern organization of the project is to function teachers, we will need top-down help.
Marta: We are in a continuous process of making decisions about changes to change information and to change the state are the same. It took a long time for the state to take an interest in the problems in the elections. Na is doing on its own and we will think about the next days, but we wonder what it will be like now to help, when the street views will not be needed as much as it is now.
Bogumił Jankiewicz: Our plans are being made, they already have plans to get going all the time for everyone’s needs. For the latter, we will need funds, because companies and people will not help us for as long. This is partly why we decided to use the aforementioned money database.
Magda: We would like this initiative to continue, because in a short time we managed to create a nice and efficient one now.
Marta: We are glad that for many people it is not a one-time help, but they are very committed and see the sense of helping. By the way, I would like to thank all those who help us completely selflessly. When yesterday’s hardware repair has the means for people who want the repair to include and build up. I feel that we created something special here.

What is the action plan and contacts with people and organizations operating on ul. Inform about it in advance, what will you do?
Marta: Yes, we are in touch with them, I take care of who you are. When a few, when we were issuing a situation when it suddenly started to arise, this happens – there were, among others at that time, when Ukrainians were issued at several points in the city PESEL numbers. We have permanent collection points on a daily basis to coordinate our work well. People come to help in the kitchen, they need to know where to go and be who to be.
Where are dinner served by meals?
Marta: Currently, my meals are taken to the Western Railway Station, previously we fed Torwar and the Central Railway Station several times for two weeks. West Station, we need our help, because we are able to deliver them food for hours. 11 or 12, and no one else has been able to do it before. Therefore, in order to be able to, and to have old collection points, it is best to have it agreed for a few or a dozen days ahead.

Let’s talk about your menu. I understand that for what you cook, you are largely a party to what products will be given to you?
Magda: Initially, we act on what we start, but we try to develop new ones at the beginning, they taste good to taste, the best way to start information that goes well, among others Ukrainian borscht, potatoes in all forms and with buckwheat.
Marta: We listen to the suggestions of attention to be addressed, and they turn that it is best if they are rich and single-pot. We react on a regular basis, but the selection is still valid for what we keep the products on hand. If we have 500 kg of potatoes to be processed, we take into account the main ones so that they do not go to waste.

I am asking about the menu also because a large part of Ukrainians and Ukraine profess Orthodoxy, and Lent has recently started, which in this fraction of Christianity is respected as an additional player.
Marta: We try to cook a lot vegetarian dishes. The meat happens to be main in form and is never mixed with vegetables. The farmers are always with us, so they naturally support vegetables always taking the first place.
Magda: You also need souvenirs that the children’s harvest, and the children’s favorite flavors.
Bogumił: We try to make them Ukrainian flavors that are already well known to these banks.
Marta: Often in our daily resources, a cook who would be able to cook something we have at our disposal, but this is not the point at all. Preparing simple preparation also makes sense as there are volunteers in the kitchen to prepare quickly.
Magda: We also pay attention to the fact that the meals are formatted, so that the tags are treated on them. We have a splash that for many of them it will be the first repetition, or the first snack in an hour.
Can you roughly estimate how much food you process during the day?
Magda: It was hardly arranged to go out every day but we used up for vegetables during the week. We have at least 500 portions a day, but for example today until 12 we issued 1,300 of them.
How can you help achieve the transition?
Magda: There are many ways you can help. We need, among others cooking volunteers and people transporting and carrying vegetables. It can also help when we start, and in addition, we mentioned earlier, on pomocam.pl, in the preparation of the poor for purchases such as gas and cooking products.
Marta: Many products can become people, but rely on them all the time or that someone will bring them to us in the addressing. Often we are just looking to buy products and we need funds to do so.
