Sunday April 3, 2022, in the town of Saint-Jean, near Toulouse, the firefighters intervened to put out a fire in a house.
As the temperatures fell below 0° outside, certainly to warm the atmosphere of his home, a man lit a fire.
Except thatthere was no fireplace in this apartment.
“This fire had not been lit in an appropriate element”, indicates without further details the SDIS 31 to Toulouse news.
Three poisoned children
Without a chimney and therefore without an exhaust duct, the smoke logically spread through the accommodation, necessitating a call for help.
Although there was no material damage, the five people in the household, the couple and their three children, aged 4 to 7, were poisoned with carbon monoxide.
Transported to Purpan
They were transported to the Toulouse University Hospital, to the Purpan hospital. Their condition was not considered to be of concern.
For two hours that the intervention lasted, the firefighters extinguished this improvised fire and inspected the adjoining dwellings.
This kind of intervention does not happen every day, but firefighters are occasionally called for fires, improvised in homes, and which turn out badly.
Last December, Borderouge district in Toulousethey had thus intervened to provide assistance to four people poisoned by smoke inhalation after having lit a barbecue in their accommodation.
