Germain Castano (Orléans): “We are not going to Monaco as a martyr or to be spanked, but if they play at their true level, we are not going to win”
Orléans, who is fighting for its maintenance, is moving to the AS Monaco floor this Sunday. Lucid, Germain Castano hopes that his players will at least manage to hang on to the Monegasque ogre for a bit.
26th day of Betclic Elite. Monaco receives Orleans. A real clash of extremes. On the one hand, a team second in the championship, which has above all just qualified for the Euroleague playoffs – a first for a club in the French championship since ASVEL in 2001 – and which will have to get back into the swing of things to his 60th game of the season. On the other, a club which is in 16th place, the last non-relegation player, which will have to employ itself to save its skin.
Germain Castano has no real illusions as to the outcome of this meeting (which will kick off this Sunday at 7 p.m.), especially since he will not be able to count on two of his strong wingers, Kyvon Davenport and Bruno Cingala-Mata, packages. However, the Orléans coach hopes to keep his side managing to put on a good face against the Roca Team. Proposals reported by France Blue Orleans.
“I’ve never experienced that in France, we don’t even know who’s going to play! We just know that it’s going to be a big armada, we’re going to take care of ourselves more than our opponent. You feel that you are going to face a big big big piece. But we’re not going to Monaco as a martyr or to get spanked, we’re going there to play a real game and see if we’re still there at the start of the fourth quarter, but if they play at their real level we’re not going win, you have to be honest. »
