Thessaloniki: The football stadium of Efkarpia was renamed “Alkis Kampanos” – In the presence of his mother
The municipal football stadium of Efkarpia, in Thessaloniki, was renamed “Alkis Kampanos”.
The event took place in the afternoon, in the presence of Alki Kampanou’s mother and relatives, who was murdered in the Charilaou area of Thessaloniki.
The naming was done by the Metropolitan of Neapolis and Stavroupolis Barnabas who performed a trisagion in memory of Alkis.
The family of the unfortunate young man was mentioned by the Mayor of Pavlos Mela, Dimitris Demourtzidis, stating that his mother, a teacher, had worked at the 3rd Primary School of Efkarpia while he himself had started the school from the 3rd Kindergarten of Efkarpia.
“We believe that the family has a connection with the area of Efkarpia. From there we got to the point of saying ‘no more fan violence’. This stadium is next to the ring road.

“Teach our children to be friends and not fans”
Thousands of cars will pass by this point every day and will see Alki’s name.
So we do not forget the most extreme form of fan violence. “As a starting point for all those who have a position of responsibility in the local government, the government should take these initiatives that will teach our children to be friends and not followers,” he told APE-MPE.
Earlier, a junior football academy tournament was held, while the naming ceremony was attended by a large crowd.
