Pope Francis will still receive a flower tribute from the Netherlands at Easter
Pope Francis can once again count on the flower tribute in Rome, during Easter Mass in Saint Peter’s Square. Dutch entrepreneurs have been able to collect enough to, together with the Frisian Church in Rome, once again put flowers in the square on Sunday 17 April.
“I got a lot of reactions to the article in The Telegraph ”, said supermarket entrepreneur Gerard van den Tweel recently in NYC. He reported in the Stan Huygens Journaal that he was looking for supporters to preserve the Dutch flower tradition in Rome at Easter. “Now enough resources have been raised to keep it going!” he said.

The blooming bulbs, plants and cut flowers will be blessed by the Rotterdam bishop before departure from the Keukenhof in Lisse on April 12. Hans van den Hende †
In the eyes of Van den Tweel, our country should not lose this opportunity: ,,This flower tribute will be broadcast on TV. A Netherlands promotion, which other countries are eager to take over.”
