Handball: Saran resists but returns empty-handed from Toulouse
Never very far, but trailing throughout the game, Saran Loiret Handball returned empty-handed from its trip in Toulouse, this Saturday evening. Despite good resistance and many solutions found in attack, the Septors finally had to fall to the flag at the end of the game (31-27).
This meeting started on very high bases. After only seventeen minutes of play, twenty-two but had already been marked. With a slight delay (12-10) for the Saranais who were able to come back in the wake of the Toulousains who had made the best start (6-2, 9th).
Jordi Deumal’s equalizer
But behind, both teams have tightened defenses and the two goalkeepers were finally able to shine, whether it is the Toulousain and former Saranais Jeff Leytens (8 stops, 38%) or Nicolas Gauthier (6 stops, 30%). At this little game, the Septors were getting an even game with the Fenix and even regaining their delay, with an equalizer by Jordi Deumal (13-13, 24th) and a tight score at the break (16-15).
The Saranais remained in the same rhythm on the restart and responded tit for tat (24-22). even better, Hadrien Ramond equalized (25-25, 50th) and all hopes were allowed. But the lack of rotations in the absence of Quentin Eymann (adductors) and Mattéo Fadhuile (flu) was felt in the money-time.
In Nantes during the next day
Erwin Feuchtmann, best director of the meeting (10 goals on 12 shots), completed his festival by giving three lengths ahead at Fenix (28-25, 56th), plus the two-minute expulsion of Jordi Deumal. It was the end of the Saranese hopes that bowed 31-27.
On the next day, the Septors will be on the road again. They play in Nantes this Friday, April 8 (8:30 p.m.).
