This is the end of this press conference
See you on Sunday for PSG-Lorient (8:45 p.m.).
Pochettino on the World Cup draw
“France or Argentina to win the World Cup? Maybe. They are great selections, they are among the favorites. I spoke with Kimpembe and Mbappé this morning, I told them to be careful in Denmark.”
Pochettino: “It also took a long time at Tottenham”
“Each process takes time. At Tottenham it also took time. It’s several years of construction. The important thing is to be able to optimize all the tools at our disposal. It’s clear that we can’t comparing club projects and cultures. It’s also different between countries. Every process has a beginning, a conclusion, a vision. You have to find the right pieces to achieve the objectives”.
“It’s not about saying whether it’s more difficult or not. It’s just that the process is different. The difficulty of reaching it is the same as at any other club. Manchester City have been working for several years to have the League champions. Juventus have also been working for years, not just for the championship. They have failed too. The Champions League is a demanding competition process. You have to have a (…), find ways to build”.
Pochettino: “We will be ready against Lorient”
“The team is doing much better. We had very difficult moments. There was sadness, bitterness. The week leading up to the match against Monaco was complicated. The players were able to change their environment during the truce, we found a group with better feelings. We will be ready against Lorient, it is important to win.”
Pochettino hopes for support from fans
“I think we have to focus on getting the 10th title of champion of France. Beyond the disappointment that there may be in relation to elimination in the Champions League, it’s time to come together behind this common goal, we need our best players and the support of the whole club. With the support of the fans, it will be easier to win our games. It’s time to leave aside the bad feelings, without forgetting what happened.”
Pochettino doesn’t understand leadership debates
“A lack of leadership at PSG? There are sometimes debates that are not correct. Leadership is exercised in different ways. We experienced great disappointment with the elimination against Real while PSG is a club that wants to win the Champions League. Great players, great coaches have passed through this club.”
Pochettino arrived at a press conference
“It was a very bad match against Monaco (3-0 defeat before the truce, editor’s note). We were not well. Most of the players were concerned by the international period, it’s not an excuse but it’s “is to be taken into consideration. Players have returned from the truce with some glitches.”
