facing the “no!” local residents, the town hall is studying the possibility of relocating the biomass boiler
In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), the inhabitants of Borderouge mobilized on Saturday April 2, 2022 to express their opposition to the construction of a biomass boiler room in the heart of their district. Faced with this opposition, the municipality announces that it is studying the possibility of moving this project.
The municipality heard them. “We understand this concern and this anger which is legitimate. We want to reassure these residents. Relocation studies are underway“ announces Cécile Dufraisse, district mayor and LR candidate for the next legislative elections in the 9th district.
This dissatisfaction evoked by the Toulouse elected was expressed on Saturday April 2 with force. The inhabitants of the Borderouge district have mobilized at the skatepark where their children come to have fun, but where the town hall has decided to build a biomass boiler room for its new district of Grand Matabiau.
“The debate concerns the location of this project in the heart of our neighborhood between the bakery, the maternal assistance relay, the college, the high school, the first houses which are 20 meters away“explains Claire, herself a resident of Borderouge.
The air pollution of this factory supplied with wood and forest chips is also highlighted. “There will be releases of fine particles into the atmosphere. What is the future for our neighborhood?” sshe asks.
To this is added the way of proceeding on the part of the town hall “ it’s a big projectreports Serge BaggiChairman of the Les Minimes-Barrière Paris neighborhood committee. It is 12 to 18 meters high. It is twenty meters wide, fifty long. Two to three trucks will supply it with wood every day. Consultation is necessary. We cannot limit ourselves to simple information.“
These demonstrators want this factory to be installed in a suitable place. An industrial zone, for example, as for the facilities at Blagnac, Rangueil and Purpan.
Reproaches seem to be understood by the town hall, which qualifies, however, considering the importance of this project: “vsThis biomass boiler meets the needs of the new Grand Matabiau district. It will supply 2,500 homes, shops, offices, but also schools. It is really of public utility.“But the chosen one does not commit to anything: neither on a new location, nor on a date. The study to relocate is well integrated even if the operator who will be appointed to manage the plant is not yet known.
“We will come back to the residents. Tomorrow, a new district will open and it needs a biomass boiler room.“An installation that can only be done within a delimited perimeter. Not sure that these statements will lower the pressure in this case.
