Cocktail bar, secret terrace, brunch… This discreet luxury hotel also seduces customers from Toulouse

It is a pretty facade of the Valad Streetclose to the St. Peter’s Squarea Toulouse. From the outside, almost nothing distinguishes this building from its neighbours. Behind these orange walls and dark shutters, however, hides a charming luxury hotel, which opened a few months ago.
Two years of work in this 18th century houseand century
Chloé Casalta is the boss of this new establishment in Toulouse which opened after more than two years of work. The young woman, who studied at Toulouse a few years ago, I wanted to come back to the Pink City. “I loved this city. I went back several times and noticed that the hotel facilities were aging. That there were few charming hotels,” confides the entrepreneur.
Chloé Casalta fell in love with this family home located at 34 B rue Valade, dating from the 18thand century… of which only the two facades were ultimately kept. Inside, seize tastefully renovated rooms, attention to detail and lots of charm. On the top floor, two bedrooms offer an incredible view of the Jacobins convent.
Not just a hotel
But beyond the rooms, the establishment also wants to attract a Toulouse clientele, by receiving them outside the hotel, “even if we regularly have inhabitants of Toulouse who come to treat themselves to a quiet weekend without the children,” smiles Adrien Aubin, deputy director of Soclo.
A large room – which can also be privatized for seminars for example – and a second with a large fireplace and a bar with a lot of character are thus available. There are deep armchairs, neat decor and high windows that overlook the establishment’s garden.
A huge garden, with swimming pool and pétanque court
This is indeed the pleasant surprise of the establishment, which you cannot see from the street. A beautiful long garden, around a huge cedar, a petanque court and a swimming pool. “But it is reserved for hotel guests,” says Adrien Aubin.
What does it matter, even without taking a dip, the places conducive to relaxation and almost a change of scenery, so calm reigns there, despite being in the heart of Toulouse, a stone’s throw from Place Saint-Pierre.
“We want everyone to feel good. Both the grannies who come to enjoy the “tea-time”, as well as the thirty-year-olds who come to have a drink with the family, or the youngest who come to share a game of petanque. Toulouse residents have fun meeting up in Soclo.”
From breakfast to cocktails
You can come to enjoy breakfast with a generous buffet in the morning (count 25 euros). Or treat yourself to a “tea-time” break, with a piece of cake in the afternoon.
Or even taste one of the house cocktails in the evening, to be savored with a nice tapas menu: selection of cheeses and charcuterie, avocado toast, plates of pata negra, black pork rillettes as well as à la carte Socle. Gaspard’s bar is open every day from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Events and brunches
The facility will also host events throughout the season. First meeting on Thursday April 7, 2022, with a designer market. In a few weeks, it will also be possible to brunch in Soclo, one day a week, at weekends. A new meeting which should seduce the people of Toulouse.
