Union says that 70% will join the strike of Lisbon Bus Station workers
The strike, on July 11 of last year, started at 03:00 on Friday and ends at 03:00 on Saturday. Workers demand pay raises
The trade union association for this 24-hour membership claim of workers at the Rodoviária de Lisboa (RL) for salary increases was around 70% at 7:30 am Friday, he told Lusa.
“As in the 10 previous strikes, the overall balance is around 70%. More or less the same numbers remain”, the president of the Independent Union of Road Workers of Lisbon (SITRL), João Casimiro, told Lusa.
According to the unionist, there was still no response from the company to negotiate with the worker.
“We know that the administration presented a proposal to the other union, but none came to us and we are the most representative of the workers of the Rodoviária. So everything remains the same,” she explained.
The strike, on July 11 of last year, called by the SITRL, started at 03:00 today and ends at 03:00 on Saturday.
Workers are also carrying out an extraordinary strike during this month to demand improvements to their wage work.
RL workers are demanding a salary increase to 750 euros, in order to “compensate for the increase in the minimum wage”.
Currently, the national minimum for a RL worker is around 700 euros (gross), while the national minimum is 705 euros.
João Casimiro supports that workers can carry out a monthly stoppage until July of this year.
In July, RL will integrate the newly created Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, which will operate in the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
Currently, Rodoviária de Lisboa, a road passenger transport company, operates in the municipalities of Lisbon, Loures, Odivelas Vila Franca de Xira, all in the district of Lisbon, serving around 400 thousand inhabitants.
