Toulouse: blocking of deposits by small transporters and rental companies
Small transporters and rental companies for public works will block the deposits of major contractors in Toulouse and its agglomeration on Monday morning. They complain that they have not obtained an increase in their benefits for years, while energy and equipment are becoming more and more expensive.
Small public transport and machine rental companies with drivers for public works can no longer bear the consequences of rising fuel and prices on their business. The tenants’ union, their Toulouse employers’ union body, is calling for operations to block deposits from public works companies in Toulouse and the Toulouse conurbation on Monday morning. Blockages which should not, however, lead to traffic disruptions in the sectors concerned.
Thomas Gomez, president of the Syndicat des Locatiers, explains: “For more than a month now, we have been trying to obtain an increase in our prices to cope with the explosion in our production costs and in particular fuel prices. In vain. We have been working at a loss for several weeks. If nothing happens very quickly, we will be forced to close our businesses and almost 500 people will be out of work. This Monday, April 4, from 6 a.m., deposit blockages are required with our vehicles and machines, in front of large public works companies of which we are the subcontractors and which have not increased our services for ten years. Or energy, but also the price of our equipment continues to increase. These big contractors are killing us”.
Department officials as well.
Already, Thursday morning, a surprise operation was carried out on the Toulouse ring road by agents of the departmental council (ex DDE transferred to the Department) who protested against the passage to 35 hours. The CGT/SUD/FO/UNSA inter-union of CD31 is “currently mobilized to demand the increase in remuneration blocked since 2010 for all staff, a real career development, as well as the refusal of the increase in work time”.
