Toulouse: a day to hunt vintage and solidarity at Emmaüs
The retro and solidarity sale of Emmaüs Escalquens takes place this Saturday. The opportunity to discover new and accessible pieces.
Do you know what a disc eater is? A funny name for a funny object from the 70s, which allows you to listen to your favorite vinyl… Cameras, turntable, orange bakelite telephone, clothes made in France, handmade textiles, vinyl records, record players, retro gaming ( game consoles), small rattan furniture…
So many unique objects donated by the public, to be discovered this Saturday at Emmaüs Escalquens as part of the Retro Vintage day. “Last year, it was a bit shy, assures Sylvie Mosnier, manager of the Emmaüs Escalquens shop. This time, with the health situation back to normal, we have decided to relaunch our special sales on the theme of retro vintage. Obviously by being very vigilant about the flow of visitors in the room”. Cult objects of yesteryear that delight the public, curious to know the fashion, leisure or decoration of the past century. “This sale of objects which is not lacking in style is highly sought after, notes Mayli Ducos, in charge of communication. It also allows the public to see the Emmaüs stands, too often likened to bric-a-brac, from a different angle. During this day, Emmaüs offers to hunt for trendy objects, linked to a story, with a solidarity price, a third cheaper than the initial price”.
Vintage is in vogue. This bridge, thrown between several eras and several generations, is intriguing. “Customers, especially young people, wonder, ask questions about these treasures at often low prices and accessible to many”.
Buying Emmaüs also means making a gesture of solidarity and citizenship
This is why we find a varied audience in the aisles: young people won over by the latest flared pants or the little gingham top, worn in the 1970s. Or the chic leather bag, patinated by the years. The very stylish rattan furniture also appeals to students and young couples. Lovers of art, photography or game consoles, turntables and vinyls are also delighted. And to complete this day and highlight the past, the companions and companies that welcome the public are also dressed in vintage fashion. Enough to really take a leap into the past, for a moment… And then buying at Emmaüs is also making a gesture of solidarity and citizenship.
Saturday April 2 at Emmaüs, 21 avenue de la Gare, 31750 Escalquens, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
