Return of summer terraces in Paris: what will change

While the good weather is only a memory, onlookers could no longer count on the terraces in Paris to enjoy a little warmth. From Friday 1 April 2022, they could no longer be heated. A measure reported for several months so as not to put in difficulty the establishments which now consider €1,500 fine.
A ban that goes hand in hand with the return of summer terraces in the capital, on the same date. Created in 2020 at the end of containment, these will be deployed until October 31, 2022.
Strict rules to follow
the RETregulation of displays and terraces, details the conditions imposed on establishments to benefit from these ephemeral devices.
The summer terraces can be deployed on the embankments, the places of parking and the plots, after validation by the town hall of Paris. They must be unheated and audiovisual equipment. The terraces must be closed for 22 hours maximum.
In the event of noise pollution or non-compliant terraces, establishments are liable to fines of up to 135 eurosissued by the municipal police.
At least 1,600 authorizations for temporary terraces in Paris
In the novelties induced concerning summer terraces, the owners of establishments no longer have to declare them, but obtain an authorization. As of March 23, 2022, the City of Paris has postponed nearly 1,600 authorizations issuedknowing that an authorization can relate to several terraces.
Paris Center and the 18th arrondissement with the more permissions : 221 for Paris Center and 155 for the 18th.
