Gartang Gali, the famous skywalk in Uttarkash, will reopen on April 1st
The famous Gangotri National Park (GNP) and the historic Gartang Gal skywalk reopen to the public after a four-month winter break. According to the data, visitors will be able to use them from April 1st.
Referring to this, GNP officials said they are ready to welcome visitors to the park, which is famous for its exotic rich flora, fauna, hiking and mountaineering trails. This park was established in 1989 and is reportedly the third largest national park in the country. The park covers a total area of 2,390 square kilometers and is located next to the Indian-Chinese border.
According to reports, both pilgrims and adventure lovers visit the national park every year to witness its rare flora and fauna, backed by the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.
The main highlight of this park is also the 136-meter-long historic Gartang Gali Street, which was built as a trade route between India and Tibet. This 150-year-old wooden bridge was opened to visitors after restoration in August last year.
RN Pandey, deputy director of Gangotri National Park, announced that they would repair the area and remove snow from the 18 km route from Gangotri to Gomukhi.
However, he mentioned that the guest houses of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) and other agencies have not been opened. As a result, there are no accommodation or dining options for visitors inside the park, he added. As a result, permits are only issued to tourists who arrive through registered hiking agencies. He further added that they have also set up guards and also installed surveillance equipment.
