A biomass boiler project in the heart of Toulouse warms up the inhabitants of Les Minimes
They believe that this structuring project for their neighborhood has not been the subject of real consultation. The inhabitants of the Borderouge and Minimes-Barrière districts of Paris in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) are worried about a biomass boiler project, 80% wood and 20% gas, which would be deployed on the site of the skate park on avenue Ernest-Renan. This equipment carried by Toulouse Métropole must supply heat to the new neighboring district of Grand Matabiau.
“We really discovered this project during a public meeting in October, called the day before when such a factory project should have been the subject of an organized consultation, protests Serge Baggi, the chairman of the committee. from the Minimes-Barrière district of Paris. This will cause the passage of trucks to deliver the wood while we are in a low emission zone, pollution for homes. We are sacrificing where we live to heat the buildings in the new business district when this boiler room could have been installed there”.
Pierre Trautmann, elected in Toulouse Métropole in charge of public service delegations, hears the concerns of local residents and wants to reassure them, arguing that three public meetings on the project have taken place. “There will be one truck per day in the summer and three in the winter, which will not cause any major disruption to traffic,” he explains. A biomass boiler room of this type already exists at Purpan University Hospital, which proves that the equipment is not polluting. We are open to alternative venue proposals.”
To be heard, the neighborhood committee launched a request which collected more than a thousand signatures in one week and plans a demonstration on April 2 on the site of the future boiler room.
