Toulouse: to promote rental rather than purchase, they are creating My Object Library
Marie Boillot and Fabien Estivals have created “My object library”. This unique service for locating everyday objects is part of the circular economy by offering solutions for consuming differently.
You occasionally need a hedge trimmer, a sledge, a baby carrier or even a sewing machine, Marie Boillot and Fabien Estivals on THE solution. By offering “My library of objects”, they suggest borrowing this equipment rather than buying it, at the Tiers-Lieu “Les Imbriqués”, located at 64 rue de Fenouillet, in Toulouse.
She was an agricultural researcher; he worked in the collection and sale of second-hand books, Marie Boillot and Fabien Estivals decided to leave their jobs to complement each other in their project. Both are driven by the desire to undertake in the circular economy in order to reduce waste and preserve resources. “We met through a mutual friend and we responded to a call for projects from Première Brique, the social innovation incubator of Toulouse Métropole”, explains Marie. From DIY, gardening, sewing, cleaning, sports & outdoors, cooking and mobility; from the small tool to the more imposing or technical equipment, you can really find everything in “My object library”. “For the moment, we have 250 objects, 200 of which are referenced in our catalog”, slips Fabien. To borrow cutting pliers, it takes €2 for six days, for a raclette service, it’s €5 and the shredder rental costs €32.
