Toulouse. L’Entrecôte celebrates 60 years of success and launches a dessert with a two-star chef

It was April 2, 1962, just 60 years ago! The rib steak opened its first restaurant in Toulouse. Having become one of the most popular addresses in the Pink City, the brand with secret sauce and to the endless waiting folder puts the small dishes in the big ones for its 60and birthday.
More than 250,000 customers per year
“After 60 years, we are still as amazed at the enthusiasm that our restaurant arouses”, confides Thomas de Roaldes, grandson of the founder, who manages the brand with his mother, Corinne Gineste de Saurs. Like all food businesses, L’Entrecôte tasted during the Covid years, but “people came back very quickly as soon as it reopened”.
Son immutable holding folder attests to this: L’Entrecôte, which still and always only offersa unique formula, and which only closes a handful of days a year for the holidays, shows stable daily attendance (excluding health crisis) to make any restaurant salivate: nearly 800 customers per day, i.e. more than 250,000 per year!

The restaurant exceptionally closed on Saturday
A “special day” is organized on the occasion of this anniversary, Saturday April 2, 2022. Once is not custom, this restaurant which is usually always full will close exceptionally its doors that day, in order to celebrate the event “in private”.
The management has indeed planned to “bring together all the people who have recognized the evolution of the restaurant for 60 years”. Its employees of course, but also former employees, suppliers and other service providers… More 300 guests will be part of it. A way for the Toulouse brand to “thank those who participated in the growth” of this family address, which has become a veritable institution in several cities in France.

After Toulouse, Bordeaux, or Montpellier, L’Entrecôte is in Barcelona
Because if this restaurant and its famous secret sauce – which has belonged to the same family for 60 years – have become essential in Toulouse, success has been tried in other French cities… and recently in Europe. What a long way since 1962, when Henri Gineste de Saurs had opened in Toulouse “L’Entrecôte”, a restaurant modeled on “Le Relais de Venise – Son entrecôte” created a few years earlier by his father in Paris. The Entrecôte then made small: Bordeaux in 1965, at Nantes in 1978, at Montpellier in 1989, at Lyons in 1999, and even at Barcelona in 2019.

A dessert specially created by Pierre Lambinon
At 60, the Entrecôte has no intention of retreating. To “mark the spirits” on the occasion of this symbolic milestone, the Toulouse restaurant will even offer a unique dessert, specially created by the two-star chef Pierre Lambinon (at the Py’r ovens in Toulouse): The Norwegian Omelette flambéed with Grand Marnier. This dessert “which corresponds very well with our identity”, rejoices Thomas de Roaldes, will then be offered on the menu of the restaurant in Toulouse… all year round!
But if the popular Entrecôte innovates with this dessert concocted by a prestigious leader, moreover “loyal customer” of the restaurant, the grandson of the founder does not intend to change anything in the magic recipe which ensured his success: “The formula always pleases as much, and we want to continue to welcome people in the same conditions as 60 years ago, to keep this atypical image of authentic brewery”.
10 meals to be won at the Entrecôte de Toulouse this Thursday!
On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, the Entrecôte de Toulouse is also organizing a competition on its Instagram account. The restaurant offers ten of its customers a meal for two people (i.e. two formulas). To participate, you must subscribe to the @entrecote_restaurants account on Instagram and identify in the comments the person with whom you wish to come and eat.
