Sale of the Vion barracks in Toulouse: elected environmentalists say no
Elected opposition, Isabelle Hardy denounces the sale of the Vion barracks, in Toulouse, by the town hall.
Eighty-five apartments in a twelve-storey building, a 1,200 m2 concrete hall, a 110 m2 amphitheater, a 3,100 m2 office and housing building, a 350 m2 gymnasium, a swimming pool, a diving pit, a pipe drying tower, all in Allées Charles-de-Fitte, in the city center of Toulouse: with the Vion fire station, which will be decommissioned in 2023, it is an important property that will be decided to sell the Toulouse city council this Friday, April 1.
And this prospect makes leap, on the benches of the opposition, the elected representatives of the Toulouse environmental group, starting with Isabelle Hardy who will speak on this subject during the assembly of elected officials.
As during the previous mandate, which saw the sales of New Products, the Croix-Baragnon space, the halls of the Cartoucherie or part of the Place de l’Europe, the elected official denounces the vision of a city “privatized” that it is opposed to that of an “open and inclusive” city controlled by “public power”. Why, she asks, give in to the private sector when the town hall can decide, for example, to “mix social housing and home ownership” or assign a building to “a cultural place”. “Why not the big hangar at Myrys? she asks. “Once sold, it will be irreversible.”
In our columns, Wednesday, Sacha Briand, deputy mayor, explained that the use by municipal services had been examined but that the obligation of renovation and upgrading made this choice onerous.
