Live in Rouen and work in Paris
Leaving Paris while keeping her job there to move to her hometown A dream come true for Florie Durand (who wishes to remain anonymous). This young quadra, executive in a computer company, left Rouen there to seize and make a career in Paris.
Ditto for her husband who holds a management position in an industrial trading company, also located in Ile-de-France. Since last August, the date of their move to Rouen, Florie has only come two days a week to the premises of her company specializing in the sale of computer products.
Make yourself comfortable
“I’m free of my schedule, because my company has introduced the flex office,” reports the young woman. To get to Paris, this “commuter” is lucky enough to be able to take either the train or the car. Especially since during off-peak hours, the Rouen-Paris route is rather fluid by road.
“In general, when I leave by car at noon, I arrive an hour later at the office”, reports Florie, who now telecommutes from her new house located behind Rouen station. A historic district grouping large stone and brick buildings surrounded by deep gardens.
Like the house in which the couple took their ease knowing that everyone has their own office. The great luxury compared to the time, not so far away, when they lived locked up during the health crisis in their previous apartment in Levallois-Perret with their two children.
Experience sharing
“I found myself overwhelmed with work because companies had to be helped to set up telework,” recalls Florie, who had to manage their two and four-year-old daughters with her husband. It is also during the third confinement that both decide to leave Paris. “The confinement has definitely taken away the desire to live in an apartment,” exclaims the young woman.
Once the decision was made, they had to resell the apartment with garden bought off plan and in which they planned to settle at the end of the year. Instead, they were able to buy their house in Rouen but also a studio in Paris. This allows them, when necessary, to be present in Paris very early in the morning or late in the evening. This is enough to reassure their respective companies, which have of course been informed of their decision to move to Rouen.
I have the feeling of working more because I have converted my transport hours into working time.

“Our employers were very open because we assured them that we knew how to telecommute 100%”, reports Florie, who is pleased with her choice of life in a city where everything is done on foot.
Of course, all is not rosy. “I have the feeling of working more because I have converted my transport hours into working time. But I am free to organize myself as I wish”, concluded Florie, who also says she is happy to have gained in space and in quality of life. “Besides, when my Parisian friends bring up the idea of wanting to leave, I gladly share my experience with them. »
