At noon on Friday, March 25, the crew of an Immediate Action patrol patrolling the area of Dendropotamos found the driver of a vehicle suspicious.
According to thestival report, the driver refused to stop at a police signal and accelerated, as a result of which the chase began. The chased vehicle came out on the ring road from Lachanagora and moved east.
A second patrol car of the Immediate Action also entered the pursuit. At the height of Pylea, the suspicious driver decided to leave the ring road through Prasakaki Street. There he lost control of his vehicle and abandoned it.
A pedestrian chase ensued. The suspect moved to the area of Pournari. Immediate Action police located him and handcuffed him. They then inspected his vehicle. It was found that the 40-year-old Albanian had carefully hidden a pistol with bullets in the magazine.
A case was filed against the detainee and he was taken to the prosecutor.
He was referred to the Autophorous Single-Member Misdemeanor Court, which was sentenced to nine months with a three-year suspension for disobedience, possession of a firearm and dangerous driving. Through his lawyer he claimed that the car was not his and that he was unaware of the other’s existence.
