Toulouse. The spring of the TOAC promises to be grandiose
TOAC’s victory in the 1/2 final of the Coupe de France Trophy sent them simultaneously to the final and to… N2, thanks to a second bonus point. One of the most beautiful pages of the club is being written.
The day of his victory, on February 19 in the Var, in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France Trophy, against Hyères-Toulon, leader of his N2 group and one of the favorites for accession to N1, the TOAC had thrown a cold in Hyères. This weekend, back in the Var, the Toacistes plunged into it! Because with the quarter-final hours scheduled for Saturday at 8 p.m. then the semi-final on Sunday at 3.30 p.m., after a night shortened by the switch to summer time, Alain Malinovsky, the president of the Toulouse club, had decided that the muscle recovery of his players would be improved by a cryotherapy session: “We had to find something. The cryo was very effective.”
So much so that the onset of cramps which Pascal Tajan and Tyreece Brice succumbed to in the second half of the semi-final against Marmande, have no impact on a team that impresses its president: “In 20 years of presidency, I haven’t I’ve never seen such quality as a group. He’s healthy, enjoys playing together, knows how to have fun and stays serious when necessary. I’m impressed.”
Towards a double Cup – championship?
This Saturday April 2, return to the ordinary with the reception of Coteaux du Luy, the dolphin of the TOAC in the championship, one of the only two teams with the REAL Chalossais, to have beaten the Toulousains this season.
The words of Alain Malinovsky remain full of moderation: “On the dynamics, we must win but Coteaux du Luy will be motivated to beat us, even without a stake. And then the players will have to have recovered from the post-match which was, shall we say, lively!”
This gala match will also serve as a support to celebrate the accession to N2 and about fifteen former players who have known the N2 under the colors of the TOAC, including Christian Henna, a member of the pioneers from 1967-1968 if his health allows it, will be on Saturday to Emile-Dewoitine.
It will then be time to think about the final of the Coupe de France Trophy for which Alain Malinovsky is cautious: “We will not be favourites. Even if we have eliminated 1st and 3rd hens from N2 and Fougères is a little less well ranked. Fougères will be preferred.” Before concluding on a more ambitious note: “And why not get the title of National 3 French champion!”
