As part of the French presidency of the European Union, the Ministry of the Sea offers a traveling exhibition on the challenges and beauties of the oceans, in order to give a “European marine awareness by recalling its maritime vocation”.
Toulouse, second stage after La Rochelle
The exhibition began its Tour de France with La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime)from February 5 to 20, 2022, attractive nearly 10,000 visitors. The second stage takes place in Toulouse until Sunday April 3, 2022, at the Cité de Montaudran, the new mecca for start-ups in the region. “Making essential knowledge accessible, bringing citizens closer to the ocean, reminding people of the need to protect, as well as its importance in our daily lives” are the motivations of the Ocean & Climate Platform, which is co-producing this exhibition.
An immersive and fun exhibition
This immersive, fun and scientific meeting addresses the “major challenges of maritime Europe” and many themes such as climate, environment, health, economy, resources, food, transport, tourism… This is not insignificant: the ocean represents 97% of the water on Earth and 71% of the surface of our planet and approximately 30% of the world’s population lives less than 100 km from the coast.
The exhibition begins with images of the diversity of European marine ecosystems and then highlights the close link between land and sea and the fundamental role of the ocean in regulating the climate and the natural balance of our planet.
In the exhibition dome, a film on the ocean projected at 360°C gives the floor to 12 ocean witnesses. Because the exhibition honors the professions of the sea (fisherman, submarine cable maker, scientist, etc.). How to arouse vocations among the youngest?
Three distinct formats
The ocean expo is distinguished in three formats. The first symbolizes the stopoverwith a graphic fresco of 16 panels which reaches 40 meters in length, and the dome on an area ranging from 450 to 800 m2. It’s time for children, with a coloring area and the installation of a good interactive on sustainable development.
The kit format consists of the fresco delivered in PDF format to be printed in the format and medium of your choice and the films in a linear version for distribution on simple screens. A space rather intended for institutions, aquariums and museums, and any educational team.
The digital formatmeanwhile, provides access to additional resources on the oceans and to learn more about the initiatives, citizen and political, in favor of the protection of the ocean.

After the Pink City, the Ocean Expo will pass through Dunkirk (North) from April 30 to May 22, 2022 and will stop in other cities without the calendar being fixed yet.
