LoL: Another nomination for Arcane
After the Annie Awards (and probably the British Academy Television Awards which will take place on May 8), Arcane, the series inspired by the League of Legends universe, has just won a new nomination at a prestigious festival – and cocorico, the one is French!
Direction Annecy
After 9 awards at the Annie Awards (and we hope others at the BAFTA), Arcane is rewarded with a – well-deserved – nomination at the Annecy festival. Every June, for a week, Annecy becomes the world capital of animated film. Many categories are represented and the different techniques of animation cinema are honored (cut paper, modeling clay, stop motion, etc.)
For Arcane, it will be necessary to fight in the category “Television films in competition”. It is episode 6, When the empire collapses, which has been chosen.
We give you the short synopsis of the episode (be careful, little spoilers, but if you haven’t seen the series in a while, we can’t do anything for you): “A protege rattles his mentor on the council when a rapidly evolving magical technology; Jinx must face her past when the authorities chase her.”
The battle is likely to be rough since the category has 24 contenders. We find in particular The Cuphead Show! and Human Resources (also stamped Netflix), The Legend of Vox Machina or even Sonny Boy.
League of Legends but not only
If Arcane is represented, video games are not left out, since two cinematics are also named in another category: Films of order in competition.
- Naraka Championship Trailer : Witness the fight between two warriors in this trailer for Netease’s Naraka title, a powerful 3D character animation that mixes the real world with a dreamlike landscape of surreal martial arts combat.
- Apex Legends “Metamorphosis” : An evil spell casts a shadow over Obi’s birth. Will his light be enough to survive and emerge from the darkness?
Proof of this is that the productions presenting our favorite titles are always more qualitative and are gradually making their way to establish themselves as full-fledged animation.
To find out the results, go to the Annecy festival to be held from June 13 to 18!
