Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc airport is a member of the Aero Biodiversity association
Committed to the deployment of VINCI Airports’ environmental action plan, Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc airport is a member of the Aéro Biodiversité association for a period of 3 years. The objective is to assess the platform’s fauna and flora species, using proven scientific protocols, and to better understand the wildlife found there in order to better protect it. The scientific teams of Aéro Biodiversité will be at the airport several times a year, starting in April, and volunteer employees from the airport will be able to be associated and trained to carry out surveys and the consignees.
The data collected will complement the 50,000 observations already made by Aéro Biodiversité at various airports and transmitted to the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.
This initiative represents a new stage in the deployment of VINCI Airports’ environmental strategy at Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc airport. As airports are made up of 70% natural areas on average – which is the case at Annecy airport – VINCI Airports systematizes, across its entire network, the production of biodiversity inventories and working in partnership with scientific experts, as is the case with Aéro Biodiversité. As a result of these inventories, an exhibition on the fauna richness of the network’s airports was produced. It is currently visible at Annecy airport and will be available for 2 months. This lists around twenty species of birds present on the platform.
