Souillac. The hotel school stands out in Toulouse
On Tuesday March 21, two marketing and service students from the Quercy Périgord de Souillac hotel trades high school took part in the competition for the best sommelier 2022 in the South-West regions in the cadet category. During the first part of this competition, which took place at the Toulouse region hotel, he had to answer a technical questionnaire, knowledge of the terroir and a blind sensory analysis of red wine references from the South -Where is. The second part was a technical test of opening and wine service, food and wine pairing and marketing in front of the jury.
Julien Laib, a 1st professional baccalaureate student, distinguished himself in the second part of the competition, during the grand final, by winning second place in his category. With Jonah Jacquemard, a 12-year-old pro restaurant student, they also returned with the first team prize for which they had the joy of bringing back the trophy which will belong to the establishment for a year, before being put back into competition.
Julien, very happy, said: “It allowed me to understand my knowledge of sommellerie differently and to learn new things. Originally from the Lot, I am very attached to my region, to the gastronomic culture of the South-West and I am very happy to have had the chance to promote the products of a region that is dear to me. I have one year of training left, but this experience has given rise to new professional projects in me”.
