L’Adige di Verona Safety operation on the 144 Atv Verona-Legnago line
Operation carried out by the local police of Verona, yesterday evening on line 144 which left the Porta Nuova station at 20:00 and headed for Legnago. Once the bus arrived in Borgo Roma it was stopped by the ATV inspector staff, to allow the agents to go on board and dare to go ahead with the previously planned operation. The men of the commander Altamura carried out checks and searches on board the bus, and thanks to the help of the dog team they were able to identify drug owners who were stopped and in the local police offices for checks. Probably the same people who in recent months, as is known, have used the buses without paying the ticket, disturbing them during the trafficking with intimidators and violent people. Also at work are the men of the ATV inspector department who are busy checking the travel tickets to the remaining occupants of the bus, some of whom did not have them and were sanctioned.
On lines 144 and 138 in service on the lower Veronese sections there have often been fights on board and behaviors resulting in acts of violence that jeopardize the safety of passengers and staff, as stated by the general manager of ATV Stefano Zaninelli and of the President Massimo Bettarello.
Salvatore CalabrĂ², provincial secretary of Ugl Autoferrotranvieri underlined “the importance of a synergy between the company, local institutions and law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and normal performance of what is an essential service for citizens who pay and have the right to travel in safety as well as the ATV staff, who must be able to work in peace. “
