Wardruna invites itself to the Zénith de Toulouse
This Tuesday, March 29, the group Wardruna will be in concert at the Zénith de Toulouse.
Wardruna was born in 2002 as a side-project of Kvitrafn, then drummer of Gorgoroth. This is not about metal, but about a musical return to a paganism close to nature. Therefore, the sound of the group is based on traditional Nordic handmade instruments and natural noises, to create atmospheric and folk music. Three voices mingle on the tracks: those of Lindy Fay Hella, Kvitrafn and Gaahl. Wardruna’s first project is a trilogy: Runaljod uses the runic alphabet.
Each album features eight of the Futhark’s runes, in no particular order. The meaning of each of the runes is staged by the music of the track(s) dedicated to it. Over time, and as the release of the three parts of its trilogy, Wardruna has established itself as one of the most interesting groups of recent years. In 2016, the last part entitled Runaljod-Ragnarok was released.
At the same time, the group collaborated with the producers of the Vikings series, on the History channel, which was to meet with great success. This will be followed by the release of his 4th opus, Skald, the first album out of the runic trilogy.
Since then, Wardruna has released a new album in 2021 as well as proven his talent in his participation in the soundtrack of Assassin’s Creed, “Valhalla” manifested in the Viking period.
See you this Tuesday, March 29 at the Zénith de Toulouse for our greatest pleasure!
