Organizer momentum of solidarity between students from the University of Rouen (Seine-Maritime), such is the objective of these two solidarity huts. Installed in mid-March 2022 on the Mont-Saint-Aignan campus (Lavoisier hall, UFR de Lettres et Sciences Humaines) and at the Pasteur faculty, in Rouen, these boxes are intended to receive clothing, school supplies, decorations, beauty products and for babies, books, non-perishable foodstuffs and other daily necessities.
“Those who wish to deposit, and those who need to consume, sum up Vanessa Macrez and Salomé Charton, the two students behind the project. These huts, with free access, are also available to educational staff. The message to get across is “let this become something natural”. People get into the habit of throwing away or storing things they no longer use. Instead, you might as well come and drop them off so they can serve them again, ”comments Vanessa.
Fight against student precariousness
This solidarity project entitled “Solid-bac-rité” was carried out in 2021, in the heart of the Covid epidemic, to respond to the explosion of student precariousness. It is clear that in view of the recent increases in the price of gasoline, electricity, and the inflation of many consumer products, these cabins are still relevant. “You really shouldn’t be ashamed to come and take it,” insists Salomé.
The initiative of the two students earned them third prize in the competition [Ré]Agir!, organized by the University of Rouen. They obtained 7000 euros to finance the two cabins. “The Sotteville La Karavan Pass association is in charge of building them,” concludes Vanessa and Salomé.
