The Monte-Carlo Beach in Monaco rewarded by Hotel & Lodge magazine
A reference tourist magazine in France, Hôtel & Lodge held its 3rd Hotel & Lodge Awards ceremony at the Pavillon Cambon (Paris) on Thursday 24 March. On this occasion, the Monte-Carlo Beach received the “Special Green” award. A new category placed in the spotlight the favorite of the editorial teams and the jury, made up of tourism professionals, for a hotel resolutely committed to an approach of eco-responsibility and sustainable development.
“My teams and I receive this award with joy and humility; as a recognition and a strong encouragement in the pursuit of our daily commitment”, said Daniele Garcelon, general manager of the establishment.
Green Globe certified (with Green Gold status since 2018) since 2014, the Monte-Carlo Beach has been committed for many years to a zero plastic policy, waste recycling and drastic management of energy and some water.
The SBM hotel has implemented a proactive policy to preserve biodiversity, including the creation in the summer of 2021 of a reef dike with positive biodiversity. Located underwater 100m from the shore, this breakwater is designed to protect the beach and allow the development of marine fauna in a protected area.
Pointe la Vigie and its pine forest have been classified LPO (League for the Protection of Birds). The latest faunal inventory has identified no less than 20 species of birds, including 10 breeding species and 15 protected species. “This Monte-Carlo Beach site is becoming an essential refuge area for local biodiversity”note the establishment.
Eco-responsible values that are found right down to the plate since, concerned about the development of its local ecosystem, the Monte-Carlo Beach and the nearby garden restaurant: the Jardin des Antipodes in Menton for aromatic herbs and fruits, the Domaine d ‘Agerbol on the heights of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, whose production of organic vegetables supplies Elsa at kilometer 0, from the ground to the table.
The restaurant has also been Ecorcert certified since 2013 for its 100% organic cuisine and wild fishing.
