Dell starts sales of the first QD OLED monitor in the Netherlands and Belgium for 1322 euros – Computer – News
Displayport 1.4 is less factual to me than ‘absurd new’ HDMI (besides being a real minefield in version number and capabilities now). Besides the fact that HDMI is actually absurd as a port (so I think it is acceptable if they cut back on that), Displayport is also more certain in terms of version. After all, you know that it works regardless of water.
This screen has two HDMI 2.0 ports with HDCP 2.2. Although you will neatly reach 120Hz on an XBox at 1440p (screen resolution), you will not do that on a PS because no 1440p can. Also HDR will not result on this screen for both consoles, because someone on both parties has that HDR is at 2160P (which this monitor does not do).
On the PC… well… why use HDMI if Displayport 1.4 is on it? Everything from VRR to HDR is supported at 1440p. The only thing you can get is that with absurd HDR that you get some banding above 144Hz in desktop situations because you use color compression above that, but let me be honest that I find that an acceptable thing, because who puts one HDR, and more than 175Hz to excel? At 144 you have no sampling.
I find the lack of Displayport 2.0 acceptable, not ideal, but acceptable. Certainly on 1440d. HDMI? Well… that doesn’t really matter. Because like I said, everything messes with HDMI, and the consoles don’t even support a bunch of bells and whistles at non-4K resolutions. I understand that from Sony (because they have to do everything themselves), but not Microsoft, because they actually use the Windows stack (which is why they support 1440p at all)
