Near Toulouse, the Scientilivre festival invests Diagora de Labège
The Scientilivre Festival returns for its 22nd edition to the Diagora congress center in Labège. This year’s theme: colors.
Develop your curiosity and your scientific culture? This is the objective of Scientilivre festival. For 22 years now, the event has returned to Labège every year and contributes to the development of scientific and technical culture in Occitania. Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March 2022, the Scientilivre festival returns to the premises of the Diagora congress center in Labège. The opportunity to discover more about this year’s theme: colors.
The approaches of the event allow the public to exchange with scientists, authors and other actors around science. The Délires d’encre association is organizing this edition in partnership with Planète Sciences Occitanie. They will discuss all questions around colors throughout the festival.
Five themes and a program around colors
“From food to locals, from day to night, from fashion to art, colors are part of our daily lives,” explain the organizers. This year’s theme will attempt to understand to the public the origin and secrets of colors for “young and old”.
Through five themes, scientists will be able to answer all questions: Light and color; Chemistry in colors; Colors in History; Colors in the living; World Year of Mineralogy. Workshops, meetings with authors, scientific conferences, exhibitions and a bookstore area are available to the public throughout the festival.
The program of “Literary Square” meetings and “Science Bubbles” conferences
To organize the visits, two types of meetings are proposed: literary meetings with authors, “Literary Square”, and conferences with scientists, “Science Bubbles”. Many appointments are given for the “Literary Square”. Saturday March 26:
- 2-2:45 p.m.: Meet Jean-Luc Marcastel;
- 3-3:45 p.m. : Meet Nicolas Beck;
- 4-4:45 p.m.: Meet Ellie S. Green;
- 5-5:45 p.m.: Meet Frédéric Médrano – Colors in the living.
Sunday, March 27:
- 2-2:45 p.m.: Meet Sylvain Tristan;
- 3-3:45 p.m.: Meet Christophe Dougnac;
- 4-4:45 p.m.: Meet Rozenn Torquebiau – Plants, light and colors, a real success story!
And others for the “Science bubbles”. Saturday March 26:
- 2-2:45 p.m.: White rabbit, red roses, green tea and blue caterpillar: colors in Wonderland! – Agatha Liévin-Bazin and Anne-Cécile Dagaeff;
- 3-3:45 p.m. : Natural dyes – Catherine Bataillon;
- 4-4:45 p.m.: Does drinking your hot chocolate out of an orange mug make it taste the best? – Christophe Rodo;
- 5-5:45 p.m.: Diamond and sapphire or when two blue crystals tell the story of France – François Farges.
Sunday, March 27:
- 3-3:45 p.m.: The Incredible Diversity of Animal Coloring – Lisa Jacquin;
- 4-4:45 p.m.: Let there be light, and there was color! – Mai Dinh;
- 5-5:45 p.m.: Apes and men: a story of colors – Véronique Barriel;
- 6-6:45 p.m.: The nature of all colors – Hugo Le Chevalier.
