Corona defied: Welserin founded her own label with fashion from Austria
Four days before the first lockdown in March 2020, Cornelia Lindner, who was born in Wels, founded her own fashion label. “You are brave, you meant a lot of friends and acquaintances at the time, but at that point nobody knew what was to come,” says the 36-year-old in an interview with OÖNachrichten. Despite the difficult time for starting her own business with fashion for women “Made in Austria”, the Viennese-by-choice has not regretted the step.
Fashionable and eco-friendly
Fashion has always been important to her, even during her school days at the Franciscan high school in Wels and at the HBLA Lentia in Linz. However, she studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Among other things, she worked for a language travel provider and a well-known fashion retailer. “There I saw how much fashion comes from Asia, a lot of it made of polyester. The whole fast fashion has bothered me for a long time. I said to myself that there had to be another way,” says Lindner. With her label “Consches”, which is made up of her nickname and “conscious”, she offers fashion that is environmentally friendly and produced in Austria. “There are many basics in the sustainable fashion sector. I asked myself: Why are there so few clothes? And why does a lot have to be so eco?” says Lindner and laughs. She mainly uses organic cotton and Tencel for the materials, designed in Vienna and produced in Styria.
The prices for her dresses in different styles from cool overplayed to elegant are between 200 and 350 euros, and they are produced in sizes from XXS to XXL. The business is mainly online, and the items are sent by post. Lindner also has a small studio in Vienna (Theobaldgasse 14), and she also uses pop-up stores to make her fashion label better known.
