Bursts until Monday
According to Weather Pyreneesthis umpteenth Saharan phenomenon should last until Monday, March 28 in the Pyrenean massif.
The sand should be clearly visible in the departments of Eastern PyreneesIAriegethe Upper Garonnethe High Pyrenees and the Pyrenees-Atlantiques.
Asked by Toulouse News during the last episode, from March 15 to 17, Thomas Beauquesne, forecaster at Météo France, explained that this phenomenon is the result of a large concentration of sand particles from North Africa, which rises over part of the France.
“We have always observed it. And only two to four times a year, it varies from year to year. The thing is too rare for us to be able to make a statistical study of it. But we can’t say that it happens more often today than 15 years ago,” he said.
