Toulouse allocates nearly 190,000 euros in aid to victims of the war in Ukraine
The Council of the Metropolis has allocated €188,100 in emergency grants to associations and organizations involved in international and humanitarian solidarity actions in favor of Ukraine.
After the terrible aggression of Ukraine by Russia, for which Jean-Luc Moudenc confirmed from the first hours his support for Vitali Klitschko, mayor of Kyiv with which Toulouse is twinned, Toulouse Métropole is committed to providing concrete assistance Ukrainians present in conflict zones, displaced in neighboring countries and in Toulouse.
Various actions have been implemented at the initiative of the Collectivity or in support of local proposals for structures and associations: orientation of financial donations, inventory of accommodation proposals for Ukrainian nationals, participation in the reception of emergency, opening of a donation center…
The international working group steered by the Collectivity and which brings together Toulouse University Hospital, Federal University, Midi-Pyrenees Region, etc. has also been reactivated to optimize the coordination of joint actions.
Three areas of support for Ukraine have been specifically identified:
• Aid in Ukraine to the populations, as close as possible to their needs, such as the sending of medicines and emergency medical equipment by the Toulouse University Hospital, financially supported by Toulouse Métropole and the Toulouse City Hall, or support for the International Red Cross which provides humanitarian aid on Ukrainian territory, for example.
• The reception of Ukrainian nationals in the Toulouse metropolitan area, in the form of grants to associations working in emergency reception sites, to support people who have arrived in Toulouse from war zones, or even from interpreting.
• Support for the reconstruction of the country on the question of the conflict is planned, in particular within the framework of the Oudin law, which contributes to the restoration of service of the water and sanitation networks.
