The “Padel Tour” lands in Romagna and San Marino
At the starting line with 24 stages, 16 of which between Romagna and San Marino, over seven intense months of exciting challenges with bandsja, globe, chiquita, volleys and smash. These are the numbers of the Padel Tour, a circuit of Open tournaments (double male and double female), organized by the Fit Emilia Romagna Committee in collaboration with Match Point and Net-Gen.
A circuit destined to culminate in the final Master (between the end of October and the beginning of November, venue to be defined), to which the first 32 players and the first 16 players of the points classification will be admitted, which takes into account the results obtained in the various tests. A few days before the opening appointment, scheduled from tomorrow to Sunday on the fields of The Wall Ravenna (the following week there will be a stop at Wonderbay San Marino from 1 to 3 April), the circuit was presented yesterday with a conference print in the beautiful setting of the Frontemare Top Club in Rimini, partner of the project.
“Finally we start again, in this case with the padel which is the sport of the moment – highlighted Rodolfo Zavatta, provincial of Coni – A beautiful and spectacular sport, within everyone’s reach, and here I believe lies the secret of its rapid spread” .
Gabriele Guerrini, the “father” of the tour in Emilia Romagna, if it can be defined as such, went into more detail, having already launched it a few years ago. “The idea dates back to 2016, then the first edition of the circuit was created in 2017 together with the Federation when few still knew this sport – said the owner of Match Point – and therefore the goal was to promote it and bring people closer to on which some clubs had invested. There were four years of constant growth before the forced stop for Covid. At that point I had the doubt if it was still worth proposing it again, in light of what in the meantime the padel has established itself in our country and the fact that he no longer needed a promotional flywheel. But in dialogue with the leaders of the federation, we have decided to relaunch an initiative that, due to its articulated and structured nature, has no equal in any other region. To encourage the participation of young people in the circuit, we have introduced a classification reserved for Under, apart from prizes ».
The task of explaining the technical-regulatory aspects fell to Michele Cotelli, padel delegate of the regional Fit committee. «Padel growth is dizzying: we have reached 300 fields in the region, over 200 of which are affiliated. We are the third region in the national context as an absolute number and the first in the relationship between card-holders and inhabitants ».
