A sponsor of OM and AS Monaco files for bankruptcy
The Iqoniq company, partner of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, has just been liquidated. A loss of a few hundred thousand euros per season for these two Ligue 1 clubs, according to the team.
Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco saw one of their sponsors completely lose ground. The Iqoniq company was forced to go out of business. The objective of this structure was to address supporters directly to offer them, against a subscription, a privileged relationship and content with the club in question. A promising project on paper.
However, the company never really materialized its offer, despite an explicit roadbook. An application was to be introduced in 2020, then in 2021, then in 2022, but, on December 24, on the eve of Christmas, the Journal of Monaco informed of the early dissolution and liquidation of Iqoniq Group.
The Marseille club had signed a three-year premium partnership at the beginning of February 2020, with a guaranteed presence on the left sleeve of the first team shirt. A month later, the Côte d’Azur structure in turn joined forces with Iqoniq, for four seasons and with sponsorship on the left side of the players’ shorts.
Like the two French clubs, many other teams were trapped (AS Roma, Valence, Real Sociedad, Crystal Palace, Zénith Saint-Petersburg…). According to The Team, the two southern clubs have signed contracts worth a few hundred thousand euros per season. A big shortfall when you know the current situation. Also according to the French sports daily, 13 other Ligue 1 clubs were in advanced negotiations with the company Iqonic.
