Wissam Ben Yedder, a scorer always more in the history of the Club
Author of a double against Paris on Sunday (3-0), the captain of AS Monaco climbs to 8th place among the top scorers in the history of the Club in Ligue 1, and is approaching the Top 10 in all competitions.
With each outing, or almost, he leaves an ever more indelible mark in the history of the Club. Last Sunday, during the shock against Paris Saint-Germain (3-0), Wissam Ben Yedder was not only confirmed in the place of top scorer in Ligue 1 this season thanks to his double. He simply entered a very closed circle.
“I have this instinct to cut at the near post because I feel that a space is freeing up, then I manage to knock the ball down well to give it speed, after a good cross from Youssouf. It’s a very nice but, yes (smile). As far as penalties are concerned, it’s never easy but I always try to take my responsibilities and go and hit them. In terms of statistics, it’s going up, so we’ll continue.”

At the 8and place of scorers in the league
The two goals scored against Paris now bring to 55 his number of achievements in Ligue 1 with the Diagonal shirt. A total that allows him to join Victor Ikpeba in the 8and place of the Club’s top scorers in the league, ahead of David Trezeguet (52) and the duo Sonny Anderson – Serge Roy (51 each). If he is still far from the iconic Delio Onnis (157), “Captain Wissam” is only five lengths behind Youri Djorkaeff (5and with 60 goals) and ten of the third step of the podium, occupied by Radamel Falcao (65).
26 – Wissam Ben Yedder scored his 26th but from a penalty in Ligue 1 (20 with Monaco, 6 with Toulouse), no player has scored more often in this way in the 21st century. Justice. #ASMPSG pic.twitter.com/Mw8YoBBkCP

A length of the Top 10 “of all time”
But the trace left in the history of the Club will not stop there, since the French international, winner of the Nations League this season with the Blues, should soon join the Top 10 of AS Monaco’s top scorers, all competitions combined. With 65 goals, he is only one unit behind the 10and place, occupied by George Weah and Ludovic Giuly, two out of 9and (Sonny Anderson and Shabani Nonda with 67) and three on the 8and (Youri Djorkaeff with 68).
20 – Wissam Ben Yedder has been involved in at least 20 goals in 6 of the last 10 Ligue 1 seasons (since 2012/13), only Kylian Mbappé has done so well. Masterful. #ASMPSG pic.twitter.com/LDGD2QkHT8

A total to which we must add 24 assists and reached in just 115 games, an average of more than one but every two games. Figures that amply justify the UNFP trophy for the month of January that he received, as well as the four consecutive titles of MVP of the month designated by fans on the AS Monaco App. Well done Wissam!
