too many decibels on the terrace of the Marquisats art school
The students didn’t think the music would carry so much and they sent the watts a little too much on Tuesday, March 22 at the start of the evening. The bass lines of the playlist set the mood in the Marquisats district.
Around 9 p.m., following a call from residents reporting the noise pollution, the national police intervened, rue des Marquisats, to cut short the party shared by around fifty students on the outdoor terrace located at the top of the school. Superior of Art Annecy Alpes (ESAAA).
Eight speakers on the terrace
Audible from the police station, the music coming from eight speakers on the terrace was lowered. The head of the improvised evening, a 48-year-old teacher, was notified of a fixed fine (68 euros for uproar). The police have drawn up a report for “emission of noise by speaker causing disturbance to public tranquility”, a third class contravention.
Spring is back, decibels too. The school principal put it into perspective. “Students take part in a radio research creation workshop (ARC). The footage was scheduled until 10 p.m. The weather was nice, they wanted to take advantage, the volume was a little too high”, recognizes Stéphane Sauzedde who was at home but was alerted by a neighbor from the school.
“A neighborhood story that could have been better controlled”, for the school director
“Everything happened a few minutes, the time to join the teacher and he arrives at the turntable to lower, two police officers were already there”, says the director deploring “a neighborhood story which could have been interrupted. It’s a shame to send the police directly instead of warning us first. Especially since the players in the Marquisates sector get along well. “We are working on joint projects to create a neighborhood life in the Marquisats, in parallel exchange. It’s a kind of first hiccup, we could have managed otherwise, in good neighborhood, ”concluded director Stéphane Sauzedde.
