The traditional sale of seized and scrapped vehicles in Monaco is open
The Principality of Monaco has opened the sale of vehicles that have been scrapped or seized on public roads. If the starting price is very tempting, beware of administrative constraints.
Do you dream of a low-cost Lamborghini, or a camouflaged Mercedes C63 AMG sold off at a tenth of its value? Keep dreaming! The Principality of Monaco is doing it again with its annual sale of vehicles seized from the public highway or scrapped, and contrary to what one might think, there is not a large choice of luxury to get your teeth into. At least not this year. The Monegasque government indeed published the list of available vehicles purchaseand without great surprise, all of the cars seized are… French, or almost.
Choice of four or two wheels and bicycles
The starting price had already increased last year, from 15 to 30 € for two wheels and from 30 to 50 € for cars. In 2022, the launch of auctions is not moving. However, the method changes: if you can still go see the vehicles on site and the examiners (from March 28 to April 1, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the administrative pound), you will have to submit your offer in a closed envelope with your price and a copy of your document identity, in the mailbox of the building located at 24, rue du Gabian in Monaco, before April 8 at 12 noon. You will have understood: this sale is aimed at locals. It is in fact exclusively reserved for people residing in Monaco and the Alpes-Maritimes.
In terms of seized vehicles, this year is a little scarcity with a fairly short list of cars:
- Mercedes E300 CDI
- Ford Fiesta/Fusion
- Peugeot 207
- Seat Ibiza
Two wheels are better represented with a long list of Aprilia 125s and scooters or even Piaggio. Unfortunately, many vehicles no longer have their keys (logical, since they were seized). They will therefore serve mainly as organ donors. If you want to make a deal on a two-wheeler or a car in good standing, you will have to turn to the list of reformed models from the Monegasque administration, but beware: they are all registered in the Principality. If you wish to repatriate them to France, you will therefore have to take the registration procedures…
Some reformed vehicles
- volkswagen golf
- Citroen C4
- Nissan Maxima
- Ford Focus
Finally, note that fifteen bikes are also present in the sale.
