Dog Oskar still missing – family continues to search – BZ Berlin
Jack Russell Terrier Oskar has been missing for a good six months. The dog was stolen and then released. The Berlin owners continue to hope.
Numerous Berliners help with the search, but a good six months after his disappearance, Jack Russell Terrier Oskar has still not returned to his owners. Witnesses have seen him in the north of Berlin in the past few weeks, owner Friederike Brandts told the German Press Agency. “A sniffer dog also confirmed the sightings,” says Brandts.
After the sightings, volunteers set up feeding stations and installed wildlife cameras. “But only a lot of raccoons and other dogs walked in front of the camera. No sign of Oskar,” reported the owner. “Perhaps Oskar will get stuck on a farm in Brandenburg. Or it even runs to the Baltic Sea and doesn’t get any further,” says Brandts. She still has hope of seeing her dog again. “But hope is slowly fading as the months go by.”
Information about the search is provided via social networks. “Many people are asking if Oskar is back already,” said Brandts. Alone up Instagram quickly follow 8000 readers search.
Last year, on September 9, a boy stole the dog in front of a drugstore in Pankow and released it in Kreuzberg. Through social media, the search for Oskar quickly became known in Berlin and beyond.

In order to make it easier for the dog to find its way home, the owner had, among other things, left scent trails. One of the ways she pulled a t-shirt from herself along a ribbon on the floor was a certain path so that the dog could pick up the scent and track it. A sniffer dog has also been deployed several times.
