“I am proud of my students,” admitted Danièlle Bodin, principal at the René Bonnet vocational school, last year. It is certain that this year, this person in charge will be able to say the same thing. Time passes and student precariousness persists. To try to cope with this, the students in bac pro from the Renée Bonnet high school in Toulouse, in partnership with the Tablée des Chefs (Thierry Merville from La Table des Merville and Fabrice Joffre from Mas de Dardagna), are organizing a large food drive. for the benefit of 500 students in precarious situations. “Last year, only 250 students came for lack of communication, deplores Nicolas Edru, cooking teacher at the Renée Bonnet high school. This time, this action was widely disseminated to reach as many students as possible”. He adds: “This distribution is a huge support for the students. Since the covid, the situation of this public has deteriorated a lot. Many do not eat properly, or even skip food”.
“We have favored hygiene and food products to help Ukraine”
No less than 500 meals will be cooked by the students, accompanied by a large food collection for the benefit of three associations: the Restos du Cœur won 250 meals as well as a supply of basic necessities “collected by the entire teaching staff and administrative staff of the Renée Bonnet high school, as well as parents of students”, remarks the cooking teacher. Two hundred and fifty meals will also be distributed to the Espoir 31 association, which supports students in difficulty. Finally, in view of the news and the twinning between kyiv and Toulouse, this establishment is launching an emergency collection to help Ukraine through the Balma 31 association and the Grand Marché Min de Toulouse. “The Ukraine is overwhelmed by the flood of clothes, observes Nicolas Edru. We have therefore favored hygiene and food products”. This solidarity and civic action mobilized various sections of the school: pastry, bakery, butcher, cook, waiter. The teaching and administrative staff as well as parents of students also took part in this civic action. “Each one gave the best of themselves”, realized Nicolas Edru.
