Near Toulouse, a former castle of Marshal Niel becomes a senior residence
Installed in the historic castle of Marshal Niel in Pin-Balma, a senior residence will welcome its first residents from April 19.
On the border of Balma and Pin-Balma, the castle transformed by Marshal Niel is beginning a new life. The building, established in a 3-hectare wooded park, has housed the Aufréry clinic since 1938, founded by Professor Jean Laboucarie, whose facilities moved in 2019 on the other side of the road, in brand new buildings.
The work undertaken on the old estate for three years is coming to an end today to lead to the Domitys Château Camas residence, a luxury establishment dedicated to independent seniors. “The residence has 135 rental apartments, from studios to three-room apartments. The first residents will gradually settle there from April 19, ”says its director, Marie Peraldo. Apartments accessible from €1,399 per month. “Fifteen accommodations will also be offered for temporary stays, at a rate of €99 per night. This price includes in particular full board, cleaning, as well as daily and emergency assistance 24 hours a day,” she continues.
20% reserved accommodation
At the heart of a remarkable wooded estate with a view of the Pyrenees, the completely renovated castle has retained the coat of arms of Marshal Niel and has been enriched with an extension, bringing its surface to 8,700 m2. “The rent includes access to convivial spaces, adds the director, but also heating, internet, TV, telephone, a gym, beauty salons, a multimedia space…” Moreover, the Château Camas residence also has a restaurant open to the outside public.
While 20% of the apartments have already been reserved, the director and her assistant, Célia Blavy, hold open days every Friday and complete the recruitment of the various staff. Marie Peraldo explains: “We will start with a team of eighteen people. The services will then develop with the arrival of the residents, to reach twenty-six people”. Also, a few positions still remain to be filled.
