INFO LA DEPECHE. Presidential: for his meeting in Toulouse, Jean-Luc Mélenchon returns to Place du Capitole
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the Insoumis presidential candidate, will hold his meeting in Toulouse on Sunday April 3 at Place du Capitole. Like in 2012.
It will finally be the Place du Capitole. After requesting the Stadium and its some 30,000 seats from the Métropole, which refused because of the lawn and the TFC matches, the campaign team of the Insoumis presidential candidate has just fixed its choice on the central square of the Pink city for organizer on Sunday April 3 at 2:30 p.m. which will be the last meeting (before the holograms) of Jean-Luc Melenchon before the first round.
On the Place du Capitole, which can hold up to 20,000 people, but with giant screens on rue Alsace, it is around 30,000 people that the Insoumis could bring together.
In 2012, like François Hollande, Jean-Luc Mélenchon chose the Capitole and then provided 25,000 people. In 2017, on the Filters meadow, he had claimed 70,000 people.
This year, the Place du Capitole, deemed not big enough, was not the first choice of the campaign team. But the Filter meadow was taken for a run. The Jean-Jaurès alleys, the Jules-Guesdes alleys, the giants’ trail in Montaudran, were also studied, among other sites. The organizers have chosen to stay in the city center in a place accessible by public transport and above all symbolic of Toulouse where Jean-Luc Mélenchon came out on top in 2017, in the first round, with nearly 30% of the vote.
