Florence, work begins on the new parking lot
They will start tomorrow, Wednesday 23 March, the works on the new parking lot in Ponte a Mensola. The work will be built in the area at the intersection of via D’Annunzio and via della Torre, near the Diaz elementary and nursery schools in via Madonna delle Grazie.
“This car park will be an important response to the parking needs of the residents of the area – underline the councilor for mobility Stefano Giorgetti and the president of District 2 Michele Pierguidi – with an accurate insertion into the landscape, dedicating particular attention to greenery: of the 4,000 square meters 1,300 of the parking lot will be green with trees and hedges “.
The parking will be developed on an area currently uncultivated, where it is located on staggered floors, we will find room for one hundred stalls for parking cars and thirty new tall trees.or which, once fully ripe, will guarantee shading in the summer months. Furthermore, given that the land concerned is located at a lower altitude than the road network on the side of via D’Annunzio, the existing embankment on the north side of the area and in a green area with further plants will be maintained. While on the south side and hedges will be placed.
It will be a green rest area: in addition to the trees, in fact, the so-called “grassy cobblestones” will be used for the lanes and ramps, that is a pavement composed of stone-shaped masonry elements laid on a layer of grit and between which grass grows, so from the inclusion of the work in the area. There are two entry lanes (on via D’Annunzio and via della Torre) and one exit (on via della Torre in the last stretch towards via D’Annunzio).
The project also provides for the construction of the sidewalk in via della Torre, in the section between via D’Annunzio and the parking on the side of the houses (instead of five parking spaces recovered in the new parking area). A new pedestrian crossing is also planned and, once the works are completed, a protected path for pedestrians will be created between the Diaz school and the new car park. The work will be carried out by the Administration using the monetization of a portion of the urban planning standards relating to the recovery plan of the abandoned complex in via D’Annunzio (expected cost of 854 thousand euros). The duration of the construction sites will be approximately 8 months.
