The Netherlands joins a ‘rail bridge’ of the Deutsche Bahn to help with the transport of relief supplies to the Ukraine, DB Cargo and DB Schenker say. The two carriers will send containers with Dutch relief supplies to Mannheim and Nürnberg in Germany, where they will continue on to the Ukraine.
The aid transport was set up by the two freight carriers last week. Although road infrastructure and border crossings between Poland and Poland are completely congested, rail transport between the two countries still includes, both carriers have said. There would also be enough space available to make this possible. Companies and donors can request a transport via a special ‘hotline’ of the Deutsche Bahn.
“Spontaneous solidarity in Europe is heartwarming. I would like to contribute to this with colleagues from DB Schenker and DB Cargo by bringing relief supplies from the Netherlands to the people in Ukraine”, says Nanouke van ‘t Riet, CEO/Coo of DB Cargo Netherlands opposite the website Logistiek.nl†
Leon Janssen, CEO DB Schenker Benelux attacks: “It allows us to offer emergency aid directly to Ukraine.
